[Review] Skin Food BB Cream - Peach Sake Pore

Hello darlings ~

A couple of months back when I was looking around at those beauty tutorial videos on YouTube, I came across a video (sorry, I could not remember who's video was it) and she was talking about Skin Food Peach Sake Pore BB Cream, how she like it better than the other brands BB cream and how it makes her face look flawless (etc etc etc).

I personally own the Peach Sake Silky Finish Powder, and the powder provides a very nice matte finish on the face and it smells really nice. I even brought a back up for it during my recent Korea trip.

And so I thought, since I have good impression on the powder, the BB cream from the same line shouldn't be that bad (since I am not the BB cream kind of girl), especially after hearing the reviews and tutorial on youtube.

The first thing I notice about this will be the smell. The nice, light peach smell, just like how the powder smell like.

Peach Sake Pore BB Cream
SPF20 PA+

Contain Peach extract that smooths oily, troubled skin, and Sake that controls excessive sebum secretion,
this light texture blemish cream effectively conceals skin impurities
and gives a natural coverage for a flawless complexion.

The next thing I like, is that this have a pumper tube which make it easier for me as it allows me to control how much or how little I want to use. And a pumper tube keep the content more hygiene too.

Pros :

This product has a light to medium coverage that makes my face have this instant glow without looking oily. It feels very light on the face and it is very easy to blend out.

It does not feel sticky, and it is build able for better coverage (acting as concealer) on blemishes and reddness. It is about to even out the skin tone pretty well and have a reasonable oil control.

It does not break me out or cause me to have any black heads issues.

Cons :

I cant say that it is able to minimizes or cover up pores well like what it claims.  ( it definitely does not set into the pores and enhancing them and clogging them up ).

As there are only 2 shades available, I got the shade #1 (with a tint of yellow undertone) which is the lighter shade. When the BB cream oxidizes, I feel that it does not match my skin tone very well.

Would I buy this again ? Most probably I will get this product again, maybe in shade #2 and use it as a highlighter or a primer for my face.

[Youtube] Basic Invincible Eye lines *QQ眼線基本法*

Hello darlings ~

Here is another youtube video tutorial from our favourite HongKong beauty you-tuber - Queenie QQ (beautyQQ).

Her videos have always been very inspiring not just on beauty and make up but also on life. Totally love how she edit and the music she use on her videos.

This video which I am sharing, she will be showing how she create different eye lines using basic products like pencil, liquid and gel eye liner.

There are 3 levels of a woman's makeup:
The lowest level is to literally apply makeup on your face but this can only create a visual chemical effect.
The medium level is to love yourself, meaning a lifestyle change --- enough sleep, proper exercise and nutrition thus improving your skin from the inside, it's better than any amount of makeup on your face.
The highest level is to change your aura completely; less gossip, more study and critical thinking; to have self-love and pride, sense of humour and confidence; to be optimistic and altruistic, these kind of women don't even need a drop of makeup, they just glow naturally.
We need all of them ^^

[How To] Packing Your Beauty Products for Holiday Trip

Hello darling ~

When it comes to packing for holiday trip, the biggest questions will be "What should I bring ?" or "Are these enough ?". Sadly, you cant bring every makeup, skin care and hair care products from your home along with you and the airport regulations are just making matter worse.

Sharing with you a few simple steps that will (hopefully) make packing your beauty bag easiler.

Step 1 : 3 - 1 -1

Airport regulations allow "3 - 1 - 1" rule for handcarry bags.

So, what does "3 - 1 - 1" means?

3 ounce bottles or less
1 quart sized, clear, plastic, zip top bag to hold the bottles
1 bag per passenge to placed in the security bin.

Any larger bottles of liquid, you must have them placed in  your checked in baggages.

Step 2 : Destination

It is very important to put into consideration on your destintion.

Are you heading to a tropical country?

If so, select products that can withstand the heat and humidity. You probably can do without heavy foundations and rich creams or lotions.

If you need to attend any parties or formal events during your trip, make sure to bring along your evening makeup - darker eye shadows and lip shades with a bit of shimmer.

Step 3 : 2 in 1 Products

To save space, bring as many 2-in-1 (or 3-in-1) products as you can.

With so many choices of cosmetics in the market now, you can use one product for your eyes, lips and cheeks.

For bath and body, you can also consider a shower gel that also doubles up as shampoo. Or you could just forgo the hair care products and use those supplied by the hotel.

Step 4 : Samples

Take advantage of samples.

You could get them from the local department store for free or you could purchase trial size samples from SaSa and Gmarket.

These small containers and sample packs will take up very little space in your bag.

Step 5 : Slip into your Shoes

For breakable bottles of perfume and/or other makeup products, have them placed inside socks/kitchen towles and put them inside your shoes in your suitcase.

There are alot of people who tend to overlook that extra space inside the shoes when it comes to packing.

Step 6 : Traincase

If you really need to bring along alot of makeup products, you might really conside getting a metal traincase to hold all your essentials.

Make a checklist that includes :

  • foundation
  • concealer
  • powder
  • eye shadow
  • palette
  • mascara
  • eyeliner
  • blush
  • 2 lip colors

It is important to plan ahead and pack smart when traveling.

[Review] and [How To] Etude House Wonder Pore Soda Capsule

Hello darlings ~

I have to confess that my daily routine have never include any toner or moisturiser. Due to the sensitivity of my skin and how easily my face will react to products, especially those containing alcohol, whitening ingredients and tea tree contains. I really have a hard time fighting with pores issues on my face.

I have actually tried the Etude House Wonder Pore Soda Capsule a few weeks now, and I am share my review on it.

This product is a facial rinse-off cleanser which to be use after you have cleanse your face with your usual cleanser. It claims that it will helps to prevent pore enlarging, firming and moisturising the skin by eliminating what hurts the skin health from within.

"I'm your wonder woman for your pores"

7 in 1 Total Pore Solution
maintains ph 4.5 within 1ph, refines the skin tones, keep the elasticity of pores
deep cleanses pores, minimise appearance of pores, control a large amount of sebum (oil control),
moisturise inside and outside of skin.

Personally, I did not follow the actual step on how to use this product (except for the first time when I tried it out) because it seems a little "unclean" to wash the face using the water from the same basin.

sorry for the crappy picture.

The original step on how to use this product :
drop the capsule in a basin of water, wash your face with the water and pat dry.

To me, I feel that despite already cleaning the face beforehand, the water which you scope from the basin to cleanse your face will fall back to the basin, and you will repeat the same step using the same water in the basin for a few times. And you will never know what dusts or gems are going thru your hand to your face and back to the water.

So, I made a little changes and use it as a mask instead.

You will just need a small clean bowl, some room temperature water ( I used bottled mineral water ), a compressed facial mask sheet and not forgetting the pore soda capsule.
Adding just a tiny amount of water, drop the capsule into the water and watch it dissolve and the water will turned into a translucent yellow colour.
Drop just 1 piece of the compressed facial mask (which are easily purchase from SaSa and Daiso), once the mask have start to spread open like a blooming flower, it is ready to be use. I will leave it on my face for about 10-15 minutes before removing.

I realise that the next day after I use this product, my face will be a (just)little bit rough and flaky but it is not drying. And I do suggest that you use this product the day before you decide to exfoliate your face.

Price : 7500won, about SGD $ 8.50*
From : Etude House at Myeong Dong, Seoul

Pros :
I do feel that the skin feels cleaner and softer.

Cons :
I do not see a significant improvement on my face.
(Etude House suggest that we use this product 2-3 times a week, while I only use once a week)

Will I buy this again? I don't think I will actually buy this again.

*i am not too sure how much does this product cost locally in Singapore's Etude House outlets.

[Let's Talk] What is a BB cream ?

Hello darlings ~

We have always heard about BB creams, how it claims to improve the skin conditions and how it will oxidise to match  your skin tone. So, what exactly is a BB cream ?

BB cream, also known as Blemish Balm or Blemish Base cream, was originally formulated in Germany by dermatologist Dr. Christine Schrammek in the 1950s. The cream was initially used to protect the skin after laser procedures and surgery, providing light coverage.

BB cream, which has been named "the secret of Korean actresses" and has been heavily endorsed by Korean celebrities, which gained large exposure in Asian markets.

BB creams come in different formules mainly perceived as anti-inflammatory and having a soothing effect. Dues to its "all-in-one" properties - moisturizer, primer, foundation, sunblock, even out complexion like a tinted moisturiser, covering minor imperfections and redness like a concealer, hydrate your skin like your day cream, brighten and perk up a dull complexion. Some will even protect the face with SPF and PA, while some also promise healing, soothing and anti-ageing properties.

The cream have become a hit in Asia, especially in South Korea. The cream is so popular that even the men in South Korea are using.

How ?

Treat BB cream like your skincare and find one that is suitable for your skin type.
It is very important to know your skin type.  Do you have oily skin? Dry skin? Sensitive skin? Problem skin? Combination skin, and what kind of combination skin?
Do you have ageing concerns or do you just want to have a healthy glow?

As most BB cream is often perfumed, do check if you like the smell and make sure the cream blends into your skin well. Always try before you buy and see how it feels on your skin for a few hours or the day, in the same way as you would try a foundation on your skin before buying.

The magic of BB cream means you can actually wear it alone with or without a foundation and you would normally get a light, natural finish coverage to give you a heathy glow and cover up any uneven skin tone.

Cons

As BB cream does not cover like a foundation, so if you are suffering from spots, you might need to go over the problem areas with a concealer. There are also limited shades which BB creams offer, generally light or medium. So watch out for the pinky undertones which do not suit darker skins.
